Police Fatally Shoot Armed Man In Van Nuys
VAN NUYS (CBSLA.com) — A man wielding an axe prompted an officer-involved shooting in the San Fernando Valley Thursday.
Police were called at 1:30 p.m. to the 13800 block of Oxnard Street.
They were told a man carrying an axe and a knife was threatening nearby construction workers.
While officers detained the suspect another man armed with a gun walked up to them, prompting police to open fire.
Police fatally shot the man with the gun. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The suspect was described as a man in his 40s.
Oxnard Street was expected to remain closed for until late Thursday as LAPD detectives conduct their investigation.
