Police Chase Reportedly Armed Man Through The Valley

VAN NUYS (CBSLA.com) — Police chased a possibly armed man through the Valley Thursday evening.

The suspect was believed to be carrying a gun which police said led to the initial chase.

The pursuit started in Van Nuys and ended in Pacoima after wending through Arleta and Panorama City.

Stu Mundel, reporting in KCAL9, said the man had been driving "very" erratically.

"He blew through red lights, he slammed on his brakes a few times, he was on the wrong side of the road," said Mundel.

The suspect mostly drove through residential areas prompting police to believe he was familiar with the area.

The driver has been making "many hard turns and many crazy moves," said Mundel.

After about 20 minutes, the suspect stopped his vehicle in Pacoima.

The suspect got out of the vehicle with his hands up.

The chase ended with no injuries to civilians or damage to property.

About six members from law enforcement surrounded the man and put him in handcuffs.

It was unclear if a weapon was recovered.
