Police Chase Ends With Suspect's Car Rolling Over In West Covina
WEST COVINA (CBS) — A man led police on a high-speed chase Monday night that ended with the suspect's car rolling over.
The chase began in Pomona when officers noticed the man was driving with no headlights and was talking on his cell phone, police reported. When police attempted to pull the driver over, they say he refused, driving away on the westbound 10 Freeway and continuing on the streets of West Covina.
At one point, the driver threw something out of the car onto the street while driving down Mullender Avenue in West Covina. Authorities have reportedly retrieved the package.
Police used a spike strip to try to stop the suspect at 9:48 p.m. The suspect continued driving down the streets of West Covina until a California Highway Patrol deputy used his squad car to clip the suspect's rear bumper, causing the vehicle to roll over.
The chase ended on the onramp to the eastbound 10 Freeway from Azusa Avenue.
The suspect was described as a male Hispanic, with a shaved head and multiple tattoos. He was driving a late-1990s Ford Explorer.
No word yet on whether anyone was injured.
