Police Call Wife Of Murdered San Diego Doctor A Suspect
SAN DIEGO (AP) — Police say the wife of a San Diego Navy doctor who was found stabbed to death is a suspect in his killing.
Police Lt. Kevin Rooney tells the San Diego Union-Tribune the 42-year-old woman is under police guard Tuesday at a hospital where she's recovering from surgery after multiple stab wounds.
He says she was found critically injured Monday, lying next to the body of her 41-year-old husband in their condominium.
Officers were sent to the home Monday after the man did not appear at work at San Diego Naval Medical Center for two days.
Police have not released the couple's names, but neighbors and associates say the man is Dr. Frederick Trayers and his wife is Jennifer Trayers.
The doctor, a Massachusetts native, had also worked at Camp Pendleton.
