Police: Body Parts Murder Suspect Is Remaining Mum
ONTARIO (CBS) — Ontario police say Carmen Montenegro, the 51-year-old San Bernardino woman they arrested after allegedly catching her pushing a trash bin with a man's body parts inside, is refusing to cooperate.
They don't know who the man is and they do not have a motive in the bizarre case. The woman's ex-boyfriend has been reported missing. He was last seen May 1st.
Greg Mills, reporting for CBS2 and KCAL9, says police are hoping a DNA match will lead them to the identity of the victim.
Mills spoke with Matthew Bell, Montenegro's cousin, who believes the body was buried in the backyard of his North Holmes Avenue home. He's been questioned by detectives. Neighbors told Mills Bell just moved into the house about three weeks ago.
Mills also spoke with a neighbor who said the stench of death wafted two doors down to her house. The neighbor also told Mills she was "very upset" that something so bizarre could happen in her neighborhood.
