Police: Attempted Rape Suspect Stabbed With Pencil At Riverside City College
RIVERSIDE (CBSLA.com) — An attempted rape suspect at Riverside City College was on the loose Thursday after allegedly being stabbed in the neck with a pencil by his would-be victim, police said Thursday.
The incident reportedly occurred around 10:30 a.m Thursday in a bathroom of the east side of the campus located at 4800 Magnolia Avenue, according to Riverside Community College Police Chief Jim Miyashiro.
According to police, the victim was washing her hands when she noticed a male suspect standing behind her. The suspect allegedly pushed the woman to the ground and attempted to sexually assault her, police said.
The woman used a pencil to stab the suspect in the neck, forcing the suspect off of her, police said. Shen then fled the restroom and returned to class, according to Miyashiro.
An alert issued by Miyahsiro dated Jan. 14 stated that although existing law allows "unisex access into sex-segregated facilities, the individual was suspicious because he did not seem to be a student, had walked past other restrooms, and was possibly following the victim."
According to Miyashiro, an area check conducted for the suspect turned up negative.
The suspect is described as a male Hispanic, 20-30 years old, black hair, with short black beard, wearing black pants and a black shirt.
Anyone with information on the alleged incident is asked to contact Riverside Community College Police or call 911.
