Police Arrest Alleged Armed Suspect After Slow-Speed Pursuit In Lincoln Heights
LINCOLN HEIGHTS (CBSLA.com) — An alleged armed man was taken into custody following a slow-speed pursuit in Lincoln Heights Monday night.
The chase started around 6:40 p.m. along the Arroyo Seco Parkway near the 110 Freeway.
Officers from the LAPD's Hollenbeck Division said the driver of the white 1994 Chevy Blazer was considered armed and dangerous.
The suspect travelled at speeds around 20 miles per hour while he circled neighborhoods in Lincoln Heights and Chinatown.
At one point, he was seen throwing a gun out of the SUV's window, according to Sky9's Stu Mundel.
Officers placed spike strips on the roadway to stop the driver, but the suspect repeatedly avoided them.
The pursuit ended around 7:15 p.m. on Sichel Street and Broadway when the suspect pulled into a driveway and surrendered to authorities.
