Police Announce Arrest In Downey Triple Homicide
DOWNEY (CBSLA.com) — Police in Downey have announced an arrest of a suspect in the triple homicide in Downey Wednesday morning.
Friday morning, at about 10 a.m., Downey Police formally arrested and booked a subject previously detained in this investigation.
The suspect, now identified as a 30-year-old man named Jade Douglas Harris, has been transported to the Los Angeles County Jail pending arraignment.
Three other persons of interest were interviewed and released.
Five people were shot during a rampage at a fire extinguisher business and a nearby home.
Police said two women and a man were killed. They were later identified as Susana Perez-Ruelas, 34, Irene Cardenas , 35, and 26-year-old Josimar Rojas.
In a statement, Downey police wrote "Detectives (have) worked this investigation since the incident occurred, and developed substantial information that led to the arrest. No additional information will be provided at this time."
Detectives are still trying to determine a motive for the shooting.
Also today, a lawyer for the family spoke on their behalf and denied the family has ever been involved in wrong doing. "The Salinas family is not involved in any illegal activities," attorney Arshak Bartoumian said. "This has been reported as one possible theory for these killings. This theory was placed in the public by various sources without any facts."
