Pod Of Killer Whales Spotted Off Newport Beach
NEWPORT BEACH (CBSLA.com) — A pod of killer whales created quite a stir this weekend when it was spotted off Newport Beach.
The Orange County Register reports that the orcas were swimming north not far from the Newport Beach Harbor when they were spotted on Saturday.
The pod consisted of some 15 whales including a three-month-old baby whale.
The group was reportedly heading toward Huntington Beach in about 300-feet of water.
David Anderson's Dolphin and Whale Watching Safari captured amazing video of the sighting -- a first for 2013.
Killer whales are only seen a couple of times a year along the Southern California coast.
