Piñatas, Voodoo Dolls And Heartbreak: Celebrate Anti-Valentine's Day Bash At Birds
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Forget the flowers and chocolate: one group of Hollywood revelers wants the world to know Valentine's Day is nothing to celebrate.

"It can be an annoying holiday if you're alone," said Mary Preston, co-owner of Birds Cafe on Franklin, which is set to hold its annual "Anti-Valentine's Party" on Tuesday night.
The event — which Preston calls "group therapy for the disenchanted with love" — offers some therapeutic activities including boy and girl piñatas and even a "giant voodoo doll" for those who are still working out their anger over an old relationship.
"People put the name of the person who broke their heart, they pin it to the voodoo doll, we exchange stories about the worst-ever break-up," said Preston.
And while anyone involved in a nasty breakup can sympathize with the brokenhearted and unrequited love, Preston said she may have heard the worst all-time breakup story last year.
"Her fiancee's mother took her out to lunch and broke up with her on behalf of her son," she said.
Despite the somewhat cynical theme, Preston added that the bash usually ends in a flurry of exchanged phone numbers — and always a song about heartbreak.
The "Anti-Valentine's Party" starts at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday and runs until closing time.
