Phil Jackson Not Certain When He'll Retire

EL SEGUNDO (AP) -- Lakers coach Phil Jackson hopes one of his assistant coaches succeeds him next season if this campaign really turns out to be his last stand.

Jackson reported for the start of Los Angeles' early training camp Friday, and the 11-time NBA champion coach acknowledged he's still uncertain whether this season will be his last.

Jackson flirted with retirement this summer, but elected to return with a pay cut for a shot at his fourth threepeat.

Jackson also says center Andrew Bynum probably won't be ready for the start of the regular season after surgery on his right knee. Jackson isn't angry with Bynum for postponing surgery to go to the World Cup.

The coach says Kobe Bryant is healthy and likely to play during the Lakers' European tour.
