Pet Food Recall Expanded After Salmonella Outbreak
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Several pet food manufacturers are issuing voluntary recalls after 14 people in nine states became sick from handling tainted food.
Multiple brands of Diamond Pet Foods from a plant in North Carolina have been linked to some of the Salmonella infections, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
In 2005, the company offered a $3.1 million settlement when dozens of dogs died after eating contaminated food made at the same plant.
The following were the first products to be recalled last month:
- Diamond Naturals Lamb Meal & Rice dry dog food
- Diamond Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover's Soul Adult Light Formula dry dog food
- Diamond Puppy Formula dry dog food
PetFoodDirect.com sent an e-mail to customers Monday saying the recall has been expanded to include all of following brands:

- Chicken Soup For the Pet Lover's Soul
- Country Value
- Diamond
- Diamond Naturals
- Premium Edge
- Professional
- 4Health
- Taste Of The Wild
- Wellness
- Kirkland
- Apex
