Person Of Interest Sought In Fire At OC Recycling Plant
ANAHEIM (CBSLA.com) — Police sought the public's help Wednesday in identifying a person of interest in connection with a recent three-alarm fire at an Anaheim recycling center.
On Sunday, April 21, 2013, Anaheim Police Officers and members of Anaheim Fire & Rescue responded to a fire at a recycling center in the 1100 block of North Anaheim Blvd.
Because of the types of materials present at the recycling center, the fire rapidly expanded, prompting a response from Anaheim Fire & Rescue and other resources from the Anaheim Police Department for traffic control.
One firefighter was injured, transported to a local hospital for treatment and later released. A police officer was also overcome with smoke during the initial response and was treated and released at the scene.
Anaheim Police Detectives and Arson Investigators from Anaheim Fire & Rescue estimate the damage to the recycling center at $1 million.
Surveillance video has revealed a person of interest seen near the origin of the fire just prior to visible smoke and flame. He is described as a male Hispanic, 5'8", 180-200 lbs, thick black hair, black mustache, and dark skin. He was last seen wearing a gray sweatshirt, gray t-shirt, and blue jeans.
