Penn State Alumni Gather In LA To Watch 1st Game Since Scandal Stunned Nation
HOLLYWOOD (KNX 1070) — Fans and alumni of Penn State gathered at a club on Melrose Saturday for their first football game following the firing of coach Joe Paterno.
Paterno's departure emerged in the wake of the growing sex abuse scandal involving former defensive coach Jerry Sandusky and others.
"You know it's been coming. It's just hard to see it happen this way," a Penn State alumnus told KNX 1070's Ed Mertz. "We care also about the victims and you know we never want to see that happen to anybody, anywhere."

That feeling echoed by others wearing Penn State colors.
"It's not about football, it's really about the victims and the children and I think a lot of the emphasis has been put on the wrong thing lately and I'm here today because the game today is kind of a way for us to start healing," an alumna said.
