Pedestrian Struck By Car In Huntington Beach Succumbs To His Injuries
HUNTINGTON BEACH (CBSLA.com) — Authorities Saturday asked for witnesses to a fatal traffic collision involving a pedestrian in Huntington Beach.
Huntington Beach police said in a written statement that the 62-year-old male pedestrian from Huntington Beach was crossing the street at Yorktown Avenue and Education Lane when he was struck by a green Nissan Sentra.
The collision happened about 7:30 p.m. Friday.
Following the crash, the man was taken to UCI Medical Center in critical condition. As of Saturday morning, police had reported that the unidentified man had succumbed to his injuries.
Police said the driver of the Nissan, described as a 64-year-old man from Huntington Beach, remained at the scene. No citations or arrests were made.
"Witnesses in the area indicated the pedestrian was crossing the street when the collision occurred," the statement said. "Investigators would like to speak to anyone who might have seen the events leading up to and including the collision."
