Boy, 7, Fatally Struck While Walking Across Pasadena Street
PASADENA (CBSLA.com) — Authorities in Pasadena say a 7-year-old boy was fatally struck by a truck Saturday evening.
Officials said the boy was walking with an adult. The adult was not injured.
The accident occurred at the intersection of Hill Avenue and Colorado Boulevard around 7:30 p.m.
The driver remained at the location and is being cooperative with the investigation, officials said.
"He did the right thing after being involved in an accident. He stopped. He's being very cooperative with law enforcement. He said he didn't see the boy crossing with his family and that he wanted to provide urine and blood [samples] to prove he wasn't under the influence of any alcohol or narcotics and there is no indication of that. It just appears to be an accident, he just didn't see him," said Pasadena Police Lt. Tracy Ibarra.
CBS2's Jeff Nguyen reported from the scene, near Pasadena City College.
Nguyen reported that a truck was going westbound on Colorado when it made a right onto Hill Avenue. The boy was crossing Hill at the time apparently ahead of two adults.
Officials said the pedestrian and the truck both had a green light.
Nguyen said police are trying to retrieve security camera from several businesses in the area for their investigation.
At this time, Nguyen reported it doesn't appear that the driver will be booked.
