PCH Reopens After Fire Damages 3 Homes In Sunset Beach
SUNSET BEACH (CBS) — Pacific Coast Highway reopened Friday morning after a beachfront fire damaged three homes.
The five-alarm blaze was started by a charcoal grill just before 5 p.m. Thursday in the 16000 block of PCH in Sunset Beach.
A $2 million home collapsed after being consumed with flames, which spread next door to another home due to a strong onshore wind. Firefighters were able to save a third home, but the structure was also badly burned.
Crews were still dousing stubborn hotpots early Friday morning, CBS2's Kirk Hawkins reported from the scene.
One person suffered smoke inhalation and a firefighter suffered a hand injury.
