PCH Closed Indefinitely Due To Mud Slide, Storm
MALIBU (CBSLA.com) — Caltrans has closed a 9-mile stretch of Pacific Coast Highway through Ventura County for a third straight day as another storm system moves through the area.
Mud and debris slides first shut down the highway around 3 p.m. Sunday between Yerba Buena and Las Posas roads.
About a dozen vehicles were stranded in the mud that was 3-feet deep in some areas, officials said.
The affected land was burned in the Springs Fire in May 2013, leaving it unstable with little vegetation.
Motorists are advised to use the Ventura (101) Freeway and canyon roads as an alternate. For traffic conditions, listen to KNX 1070 Newsradio.
Sheriff's deputies and Caltrans were on standby for more flows as PCH will be closed indefinitely.
