Passenger Killed, Driver Seriously Hurt In Suspected DUI Rollover Crash
RIVERSIDE (CBS) — A passenger was killed and the driver seriously hurt in a single-vehicle crash in Riverside involving a suspected drunken driver, a police spokesman said.
The crash occurred about 2:05 a.m. on Arlington Avenue, just west of Fairhaven Drive, according to Riverside police Sgt. Phil Neglia.
Jonathan Cuevas, 20, of Riverside, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 18-year-old driver -- who was not identified -- was taken to Riverside Community Hospital in serious condition, Neglia said.
"According to a witness, the 1995 Isuzu Rodeo was traveling eastbound on Arlington Avenue at a high rate of speed," Neglia said. "As the vehicle rounded the curve in the roadway, the driver lost control, rolling his vehicle numerous times. The preliminary investigation revealed that the driver was under the influence of alcohol."
