Passenger Arrested Aboard United Airlines Flight For Allegedly Assaulting Flight Attendant
LOS ANGELES INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (CBS) — A passenger was arrested following a clash with a flight attendant aboard a United Airlines flight at LAX.
According to officials, he flight attendant was telling the passenger, identified as 61-year-old Eugene Lin, that his carry-on would have to be checked into the luggage area below the plane. She began to tag and check his bag when Lin allegedly grabbed the woman by the arm and shoulder.
LAX police Sergeant Belinda Nettles said Lin attacked the flight attendant because he was upset she was checking his bag.
Nettles said the incident happened along the jetway of the gate at terminal 7, as passengers were boarding the plane.
The flight attendant placed Lin under a citizen's arrest and LAX officers placed him under arrest on suspicion of misdemeanor battery. Lin is being held on $20,000 bail, Nettles said.
LAX employees who witnessed the attack said that the heated outburst was unexpected.
The flight attendant was treated at the scene by medics.
United Airlines would give no comment on the incident.
