Pasadena's Wildfire Resource Hub to close this weekend
At dusk, volunteers at the Wildfire Resource Hub were still helping people in the parking lot of Kaiser Permanente's Pasadena headquarters.
The location has served as a lifeline for fire victims and their families since Monday.
"We lost the house that we had in the family for over 50 years," Altadena resident Kimberly Jone said. "It's become a hardship as to how we move forward."
The line to get help wrapped around the building Friday.
"I just got here maybe an hour ago but there's people who have been waiting all day," Altadena resident Marcus Nelson said. "The lady standing next to me says she's been waiting for a while."
People stocked up on boxes of food, N95 masks and other essentials.
The Wildfire Resource Hub was unique because it included national, state and local organizations all in one place. ICNA Relief is one of the organizations stepping up to help with the food pantry.
"I can't believe the number of people we helped because it's just so many," coordinator Abdullah Zikria said. "There's that side you hear the stories that everybody comes through which is they lost a family member a pet, a house."
Saturday will be the last day of the hub. The site will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The California Voluntary Organizations said they are planning to open more locations.
