Pasadena Schools Evacuated Following Bomb Threat
PASADENA (CBSLA.com) — Two Pasadena schools were evacuated Wednesday after an anonymous caller phoned in a bomb threat.
Police received the call around 1:45 p.m. from someone who claimed a bomb was hidden on the campus of Washington Middle School on North Marengo Avenue, according to Lt. Pete Hettema.
"We then contacted the Pasadena school district and, in consultation with them, decided to evacuate both Washington Middle School and Washington Elementary School since they are just a couple of blocks away from each other," Hettema said.
Hettema said officials don't think the threat was real, but decided to take precautionary measures.
"We moved all the children in both schools to safe areas outside the buildings and then began a search of the school campuses," he said.
As of 4 p.m., no bombs had been found at either school.
The children were released to their parents.
