Pasadena Lawmaker Asks Public For 'Thoughts' On Syria Conflict
PASADENA (CBSLA.com) — A Southland lawmaker sought feedback from constituents Tuesday on proposed U.S. military intervention in the crisis in Syria.
U.S. Rep. Judy Chu (D-Pasadena) took to Twitter to gauge public support for a myriad of military options as President Obama consulted with Congressional leaders at the White House over allegations that the Syrian government used chemical weapons to kill over 1,400 civilians.
Chu wrote, "Congress will debate a response for #Syria next week, but I want to hear from you right now."

The survey entitled "Tell Me Your Thoughts on Syria" asked, "What should the United States do following the now-verified chemical weapons attacks by the Syrian government on its own people?"
Optional answers included:
- Install a no-fly zone over Syria;
- Work with the international community to take action;
- Attack government military installations;
- Attack only chemical weapons sites/facilities;
- Bring war crimes charges against government leaders; and
- The U.S. should stay out of the conflict.
Congress is expected to vote on a resolution authorizing the use of force in Syria on Sept. 9.
Fellow Southern California Congressman Ken Calvert (R-Corona), issued a statement signaling his concerns ahead of the scheduled vote.
"The President needs to clarify his position on Syria as well as his broader Middle East strategy," Calvert said. "In the coming days, I hope to see more details, a more coherent policy, and more decisive leadership from the President."
Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad has warned any attack on Syria could result in rocket attacks on Israel and a larger regional conflict.
