Parolee Crashes Into 3 Cars, House On High-Speed Police Chase

HERMOSA BEACH (CBS) — A parolee led police on a high speed chase through the streets of Hermosa Beach before crashing into three vehicles and plowing into the side of a home Monday.

Officers arrested Phillip Landry Rivera, a transient who frequents San Pedro, as he tried to run from the crash, according to Detective Mick Gaglia of the Hermosa Beach Police
Department.

Shortly after 7 a.m., Hermosa Beach police had tried to pull over Rivera, driving a silver Honda Accord, for a traffic violation at Aviation Boulevard and Ocean Drive, according to the Daily Breeze.

The 34-year-old parolee refused to stop for officers, making several turns before he sped south on Ocean Drive.

Rivera raced through traffic signals and stop signs, crashed into a female motorist and then collided with a tree, a house and the two car in the home's driveway.

Police arrested the suspect as he was running from the scene.

He was arrested on suspicion of hit-and-run, leaving the scene of an accident, evading police, resisting arrest, possessing a controlled substance and being a felon in possess of ammunition, Gaglia said.

Gaglia said Rivera was on parole after serving prison time for receiving stolen property.
