Parolee Charged With Attempting To Kidnap 2 Girls In Compton
COMPTON (CBSLA.com) — A 35-year-old parolee was charged Tuesday with attempting to kidnap two girls in Compton last week.
Ashley Luther Price, of Los Angeles, was charged with two counts of attempted kidnapping to commit rape and one count of unlawful driving or taking of a vehicle, according to the district attorney's office. His arraignment was delayed until Wednesday.
Price allegedly grabbed a 14-year-old girl around 7:20 a.m. Oct. 1 as she was walking to school in the area of Atlantic Avenue and Compton Boulevard.
As he tried to drag the girl into his car, an unidentified woman stopped her vehicle and pulled Price off the girl, authorities said.
Price then reportedly took off and tried to take another girl 15 minutes later.
Price, who has a prior conviction for carjacking in 2008, could face a maximum of 27 years in prison if convicted.
