Parents Arrested In Connection With Death Of Their 2-Year-Old Girl
LYNWOOD (CBS) — The parents of a 2-year-old girl who died after sustaining multiple injuries were arrested in connection with her death, a sheriff's sergeant announced Friday.
The child was reportedly injured Saturday evening at a home in the 2900 block of Oakwood Avenue in Lynwood, but her parents did not call for emergency help until the early morning hours Sunday, said Sgt. Diane Hecht of the Sheriff's Headquarters Bureau.
"When paramedics arrived the little girl was in full cardiac arrest," Hecht said.
The child was taken off life support at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center Thursday morning.
The girl's mother, Miriam Abrego, 24, was booked for murder. Her father, 23-year-old Michael Lara-Morales, was booked for cruelty to a child likely to produce death.
Abrego is being held at the Century Regional Detention Facility in lieu of $1 million bail. Lara-Morales is being held at the Century sheriff's station jail in lieu of $500,000 bail.
