An Indio man suspected of leaving a burglary victim injured during a Palm Desert home invasion years earlier has been arrested, authorities said Friday.

Louis Moises Hernandez, 38, was taken into custody Thursday by investigators in the 45000 block of Palmwood Court in Palm Desert in connection with the burglary that happened more than three years prior. On Aug.15, 2021, a break-in was reported at the residence located in the 72000 block of Mesa View Drive around 4 a.m., according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

The suspect allegedly entered the home multiple times while people were sleeping inside and stole property. At one point, one of the victims confronted Hernandez and got into an altercation with him that left the victim injured, according to sheriff's officials.

Hernandez fled the scene. Authorities said he was identified as the suspect this month. When investigators went to arrest him Thursday, sheriff's officials said he did not stop when deputies tried pull him over and a pursuit ensued.

He was eventually taken into custody at Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside on suspicion of home invasion robbery and residential burglary.

Anyone with information can reach Investigator Joshua Smith at the Palm Desert Sheriff's Station at 760-836-1600.
