Pacific Gas, Electric Power Line Sparked Dixie Fire, Investigators Say
BUTTE COUNTY (CBSLA) - A Pacific Gas and Electric power line is responsible for the massive Dixie Fire that burned 963,309 acres in Northern California, Cal Fire investigators announced on Tuesday.
Investigators concluded that a PG&E power line sparked the fire when distribution lines made contact with a tree west of Cresta Dam on July 13.
The fire blazed through Butte, Plumas, Lassen, Shasta, and Tehama counties and is ultimately, the second-most devastating wildfire in state history.
