Overturned Tanker Prompts Closure Of Interstate 5 In Valencia
VALENCIA (CBS) — All southbound lanes of Interstate 5 were shut down for 90 minutes Monday morning after a tanker loaded with 6,000 gallons of butane collided with a small hybrid car and flipped on its side, the California Highway Patrol said.
The big rig loaded struck a Toyota Prius at 3:03 a.m. at the McBean Parkway exit, prompting the closure of all lanes.
The CHP issued a SigAlert at 3:21 a.m., and reopened the far left lanes at 4:39 a.m.
It was expected to take several hours to get the tanker back on its wheels.
No butane was spilled onto the roadway.
