Noise from the two-day HARD Summer electronic music festival drew multiple complaints from neighbors in the Los Angeles area over the weekend.

The El Segundo Police Department said they received over 100 calls reporting "loud booming noises" in El Segundo and surrounding neighborhoods.

Police issued an alert at 6:25 p.m. Friday about the noise, saying it may have possibly been coming from large speakers near Los Angeles International Airport, which is bordered by the cities of El Segundo and Inglewood.

The department also added that "no additional 911 calls are necessary" after it "received over 100 calls regarding this incident."

HARD Summer festival organizers said they were aware of the noise complaints and released a statement to address the concerns from the public.

"While we always operate within legally acceptable decibel levels, we have sound monitors deployed in the field to monitor and respond to all noise complaints," festival organizers said. "We have been in touch."

Organizers added that they had "made extensive efforts to mitigate sound levels with operational changes, and noted that it was "important for us to be good members of the community and considerate neighbors to the city of Inglewood."

The reports of loud noises followed another recent spate of 911 calls across town from residents in Pasadena, who reported a series of booms over several months.

In May, police arrested a 63-year-old man who allegedly set off over 150 explosions in the past two years. El Segundo Police said Monday that there is no indication that any other source was behind the booming noises reported by 911 callers Friday.
