Oscar Road Closures Start This Weekend

HOLLYWOOD (CBS) — Road closures in preparation for the Academy Awards at Kodak Theatre begin this weekend.

Hollywood Boulevard will be closed between Highland Avenue and Orange Drive beginning at 10 p.m. Sunday to accommodate the construction of press risers, fan bleachers and pre-show stages. Hollywood Boulevard will remain closed until 6 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 28.

Oscar preps will also affect the MTA Red Line.  Trains will bypass the Hollywood & Highland station after the last regularly scheduled train on Saturday Feb. 25, until 6 a.m. Monday, Feb. 27, when service will resume with the first scheduled train.

Several other streets and sidewalks will be closed for varying periods between Sunday and Oscar Sunday on Feb. 26. For more details and maps of the affected areas, visit navigatehollywood.com.

The 2011 Academy Awards will be held on Feb. 26 at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center.
