Oscar-Related Street Closures To Begin Sunday
HOLLYWOOD (CBS) — Hollywood Boulevard near the Kodak Theatre will be closed most of the week, starting Sunday night, as preparations begin for the 83rd Academy Awards ceremony.
The street will be closed between Highland Avenue and Orange Drive at 10 p.m., then reopen at 6 a.m. Monday. It will be closed again at 10 p.m. Monday and remain closed until 6 a.m. March 1.
Various other streets and sidewalks in the area will be closed at differing times during the week leading up to next Sunday's Oscar ceremony.
Metro subway traffic will also be affected the weekend of the event with Red Line trains bypassing the Hollywood and Highland station all day Feb. 27. Service is expected to resume the morning of Feb. 28.
With the street closures, Metro Bus Lines 212/312, 217, 222 and 780 will be detoured from Hollywood Boulevard between Highland and La Brea Avenue until March 1.
On the day of the Oscars, lines 156, 212, 222 and 217 will be detoured from Hollywood Boulevard between La Brea and Cahuenga Boulevard and from Highland between Franklin Avenue and Sunset Boulevard through 6 a.m. Feb. 28.
