'Operation Pothole' Moves To The Valley For Day Two
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — City pothole repair crews will be hitting the streets of the San Fernando Valley Sunday, wrapping up a weekend blitz aimed at repairing as many as 15,000 pocks in the storm-ravaged pavement.
Storms last month left the roads full of tire-busters and despite a tight budget, City Council President Eric Garcetti is rallying Bureau of Street Maintenance crews to get the holes patched before the next deluge.
On Saturday, crews focused on streets south of Mulholland Drive.
About eight tons of asphalt and gravel were set aside for just one of the city's four street districts, according to Public Works Department Street Maintenance Supervisor Tony Fajardo.
Over two days, officials hope to get 10,000-15,000 potholes filled.
Residents can call the city's 311 hotline to report potholes.
