Only On 9: Family Suspects Foul Play In 2013 Disappearance Of Missing Antelope Valley Woman

QUARTZ HILL (CBSLA.com)   —  A woman missing more than two years from her Quartz Hill home met with foul play, her friends, family and sheriff's detectives now believe.

KCAL9's Jennifer Kastner spoke to some of the woman's friends and family on Wednesday.

Michelle Russ -- then 25 -- was last seen on the evening of May 9 in 2013.

I's a story that is Only On 9.

The young mom was set to meet up with some friends she had been hanging out with earlier in the day.

Family members say she never came home.

They have never given up hope she would return.

"She is my twin sister I mean that's my twin sister. I've been with her my whole life I've been with her," says twin Christine Russ. "I'd spend the rest of my life looking for her and I will until something's found," she said.

The case has been assigned to the LA County Sheriff's Homicide Bureau according to Cold Case Detective Steve Lankford.

"This wasn't a walk-away. This wasn't a voluntary missing," Lankford says.

Michelle was last seen in the Quartz Hill area getting into a vehicle near 51st West, the detective said. In a major update to the case this week, he said he believed the woman was kidnapped.

He told Kastner he couldn't give specifics but found red flags that leads him to believe Russ was taken against her will and could be now out-of-state.

"We're at the point where we need help from the community," Lankford.

Family says Russ has cerebral palsy, anxiety disorder and seizures.

Her son, 9-year-old Mathew, waits for his mother to come home. He misses their play time.

"I would like to play with my mother," he says, "and I could hut my mother."

Russ is described as white with blonde hair and blue eyes. She is 5 feet 2 inches tall and weights about 125 pounds.

When last seen, she had on black pants and a dark blue or purple blouse

"She's my older sister," says Sara Russ, "there needs to be closure or something, for sure. Especially for her son."

Anyone with information on Russ' disappearance is asked to contact Detective Steve Lankford at the Sheriff's Department Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500.
