Only On 2: Riverside Business Owner Fed Up With Third Car Accident Outside His Shop
RIVERSIDE (CBSLA.com) — Security video from a Riverside County business shows the collision at breakneck speeds -- a driver takes out a truck, a cement sign and a signal pole.
The careening vehicle ends up across the street. Miraculously, the driver was not seriously hurt.
The business owner showed CBS2's Tom Wait dramatic video of the accident.
Mario Tomassian says the scene in the video is becoming all too common place.
"They go so fast out here. We need either speed bumps or they need to control this," Tomassian said.
It's a story that is Only On 2.
Tomassian owns the auto shop where the accident happened -- along Mission at Lindsay in Riverside County. He was closed Sunday when the drama unfolded and while relieved everyone is okay, he's beyond frustrated.
"Angry, upset. The whole works. I'm going to be losing business," he said.
CalTrans put in a temporary utility pole with huge concrete weights. Wait pointed out the obliterated sign that the driver took out.
"It happens all the time. There's so many accidents but my sign has been hit three times," Tomassian said.
Tomassian says the damage from this crash could easily cost him between $20 and 30,000 -- in both repairs and lost business. His message to everyone coming through the area is a simple one:
"Please slow down," Tomassian said.
As for the driver in the latest accident, Tomassian says he was ticketed and left the scene without requiring medical attention.
