3 Arrested On Suspicion Of Making Online Threats Towards OC High School
ANAHEIM (CBSLA.com) — Two men and a male juvenile were in custody Monday for allegedly making online threats towards a high school in Anaheim.
According to the Anaheim Police Department, the online threats were made against Loara High School through an application called Ogle, which is a campus-oriented platform that allows users to anonymously post comments, photographs and videos to the site. Users can also exchange messages, themes and chat with others within the application.
"We urge parents to be aware of their children's online presence," said Deputy Chief Julian Harvey. "At the same time, students and parents alike need to understand we do not take these threats lightly. We will prosecute anyone who makes such threats, even as a hoax, to the fullest extent of the law."
The first threat was issued late Friday afternoon. An investigation subsequently led to the arrest of a 15-year-old boy who is a 10th grade student at the school. No weapons were located at his residence and police said there was no indication he had the means to carry out the threat.
The teenager was booked into Orange County Juvenile Hall for making criminal threats.
On Saturday evening, a second threat was made towards the high school.
Miguel Meza, 18, of Anaheim, was contacted during a vehicle stop the following afternoon. Two loaded handguns were recovered in his vehicle.
Police subsequently arrested Meza for making criminal threats and possession of loaded handguns.
A third suspect, Johnny Aguilar, 23, of Anaheim, was also arrested for possession of loaded handguns and probation violations.
Meza and Aguilar were booked into Orange County Jail.
The investigation is ongoing.
