Officials Warn Parents Of Potential For Pot-Laced Halloween Treats
LOS ANGELES (CBS/KNX 1070) — With Halloween just a day away, sheriff's officials are warning parents to check all candy to make sure its not laced with marijuana.
On Friday, Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies showed off a table full of "edibles" -- sodas, brownies, muffins and cookies that were bought from medical marijuana clinics.
"The medical marijuana dispensaries that are known for selling marijuana also sell any type of edibles," Sgt. Glenn Walsh told KNX 1070's John Brooks. "The THC can be in any edible."

Police, however, say they've never seen someone handing edibles out to kids on purpose but caution that there have been cases where children accidentally ate them and got very sick.
While candy tampering claims have proven to be mostly false over the years, parents are encouraged to inspect all trick-or-treat items before allowing children to consume them.
