Officials: Transients May Have Started Fires To Keep Warm
LOS ANGELES (CNS) — Firefighters had to scramble to knock down two fires that broke out on Friday, including one possibly caused by transients trying to keep from freezing.
Devin Gales of the Los Angeles Fire Department said the non-injury fire at a house in Koreatown was put out in less than a half-hour.

The fire at 926 S. Normandie Avenue was reported at 9:11 a.m., Galess said.
No injuries were reported.
Meanwhile, in Boyle Heights, neighbors in the 1400 block of Soto Street woke up to see an old wooden home next door on fire.
Apparutus operator Fernando Jimenez said the place was fully involved when they pulled up, and that it appeared the fire may have been started by transients holing up inside.
No one was injured in the fire, and before that had even cooled down, nearly 60 firefighters with ladder trucks were called out to Koreatown.
