Officials ID Mother Killed In Crash Possibly Triggered By Maserati
WESTWOOD (CBSLA.com) — The L.A. County Coroner's Office has identified a mother killed Saturday in a four-vehicle crash which police say may have been caused by a speeding Maserati.
The collision occurred at 6:10 p.m. in the 10200 block of Sunset Boulevard, just east of Beverly Glen, in Westwood.
Sheri Myers Olmon, 54, died when the Maserati veered out of a westbound lane and hit her Honda in the eastbound lane.
The Santa Monica resident's husband and daughter were also in the vehicle. He suffered fractured ribs and the daughter was not badly injured.
Olman had to be extricated out of their vehicle, officials said.
Police said the driver of the Maserati was not hurt. They also told CBS2/KCAL9's Cristy Fajardo the Maserati driver was also being "extremely cooperative."
Authorities are still investigating the crash. They've ruled out alcohol as a factor in the crash but said speeding might have been involved.
Officials could not yet say if the Maserati driver will face charges.
Police described the crash site as a dangerous stretch of road.
A few feet from Saturday's crash, the scene of another deadly accident in February. In that crash, actress Salma Hayek's brother, Sami, lost control of his car killing his passenger, 43-year-old Ian Cutler, an award-winning art director.
