Officers Search For Parolee After Agent Shot In Lake View Terrace
LAKE VIEW TERRACE (CBS) — A parolee shot a law enforcement officer Wednesday in Lake View Terrace, authorities said.
The shooting in the 10600 block of Foothill Boulevard occurred about 1:20 p.m., said Richard French of the Los Angeles Police Department.
According to broadcast reports, the wounded officer is part of a law enforcement team that checks on parolees with California Parole Apprehension Team. He may have suffered a wound to the neck or shoulder and was standing up when paramedics first got to him.
The suspect is believed to be hiding in the area. He was described as a white man with blond hair.
Meanwhile, the afternoon commute along the Foothill (210) Freeway was snarled after it was temporarily closed between the 118 Freeway and Sunland to accommodate police and sheriff's deputies.
One driver told KNX 1070 he was stuck on the westbound 210 for more than 90 minutes before deciding to exit the freeway via a nearby on-ramp.
"There was a CHP officer that went down the center divider basically telling you, 'Stay off the center divider', but there were guys driving in the number one lane, going backwards and stuff," said Mark.
"One guy did it and it just gradually caught up with everybody, so now we're all in the number four lane heading eastbound on the westbound side of the freeway," he added.
