Officers Save Toddler From Choking Two Days Before Christmas
WEST COVINA (CBS) — It may have been an early Christmas present, but it will likely be one that one West Covina man will never forget.
Bryant Rosas was babysitting his 19-month-old nephew Maddox on December 23 with a friend when the toddler put a bit of a corn chip in his mouth and started to choke.
Bryant frantically called 911, but was unable to revive Maddox.
"Is the baby that's choking still purple?" asked the operator.
"Yeah, he's not purple but he's turning...I don't know," Bryant responded."
"Is he getting air?" the operator asked.
"I don't think so," Bryant responded.
Bryant said it was the "worst feeling" he's ever felt "just having his body in my hands, all loose like that".
Two officers then showed up and within seconds dislodged the chip from Maddox's throat.
The toddler was doing fine and able to celebrate his second Christmas with his family.
