Officer Injured, 2 Shoppers Arrested After Fight Erupts Outside Rialto Walmart
RIALTO (CBSLA.com) — Two people were arrested after a fight erupted between shoppers in line outside of a Walmart Thursday.
Barricades were set up outside the store to help manage crowds that reportedly numbered in the thousands. The disruption took place around 6:45 p.m., as shoppers waited in line for holiday sales.
"There were some tensions that flared up in reference to people cutting in lines," said Sergeant Nicholas Borchard of the Rialto Police Department.
According to Sgt. Borchard, a fight broke out between three individuals. A police officer who attempted to intervene suffered minor injuries.
Two people were arrested on suspicion of assault.
Police were posted outside of the retail giant throughout the day Thursday, and officers will stay through Black Friday as a precaution.
