Off-Duty Officer Stabbed During Home Invasion Robbery In Whittier
WHITTIER (CBSLA.com) —An off-duty officer with the Los Angeles School Police Department was reportedly stabbed during an attempted home invasion robbery in Whittier Thursday afternoon.
The incident happened around 3:20 p.m. at the victim's residence in the 5400 block of Pioneer Boulevard.
"When (the victim) interrupted the home burglary, the suspect and the victim...an altercation ensued. The victim was stabbed with a stabbing instrument multiple times," said Officer Brad White of the Whittier Police Department.
The suspect fled the location in a red sedan.
The officer was able to call for help and was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
"We do have officers with the victim. He's in stable condition. His wounds were superficial, so he'll be okay," said White.
Police are still searching for the alleged robber.
"Our investigative team...will be going door-to-door talking to witnesses (and) trying to get information that would help lead us to the suspect," White said.
