Off-Duty Long Beach Police Officer Killed In Crash

PARAMOUNT (CBSLA.com) — An off-duty Long Beach police officer was killed in a crash in Paramount, officials said Thursday.

The accident happened around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday on the on ramp from westbound Rosecrans Avenue to the northbound 710 Freeway, the California Highway Patrol said.

"It is with sadness that we can confirm that one of our Long Beach Police Officers was involved in a traffic collision off-duty, outside the City of Long Beach, that resulted in his death," the department said.

Police were not releasing the officer's identity and were still notifying next of kin.

The accident was under investigation by the CHP.
