Ocean View Little Leaguers Take Day Off After World Series Opener Win
HUNTINGTON BEACH (CBS) — Even all stars need to have some fun and on Saturday that's exactly what the Ocean View All-Stars from Huntington Beach expect to do.
They plan to spend some downtime swimming, playing ping pong and in the batting cage a day before they are scheduled to resume play in the Little League World Series in South Williamsport, Pa.
The team began the World Series play Friday with an 11-0 victory over the New England Region champs -- the Cumberland American Little League.
The win marked a first in the Ocean View Little League's 46-year history. Last year, they were one step away from the World Series.
Ocean View will play again on Sunday. Four straight wins guarantee that they'll be playing in the World Series Finals a week from Sunday.
Meanwhile, friends and family in Huntington Beach couldn't be happier.
"Really proud. Most of them go to my school and it's pretty cool that I get to see them on TV," fan Ben McConnell told Michele Gile, reporting for CBS2 and KCAL9.
