OC Man Sentenced To 15 Years To Life For Murdering His Roommate, An Iraq War Veteran
SANTA ANA (CBSLA.com) — An Orange County man was sentenced Friday to 15 years to life in state prison for killing his roommate in 2013.
Kwang Joy, 55, was found guilty in July of second-degree murder for the death of Maribel Ramos, an Iraq War veteran and Cal State Fullerton student.
Officials believe 36-year-old Ramos and Joy got into an argument May 2, 2013, after she told him he needed to move out of her home in Orange.
Ramos' body was found in Modjeska Canyon off Santiago Canyon Road two weeks later.
During the search for the victim, Joy maintained his innocence and repeatedly talked about his love for Ramos, who he said was his best friend.
