OC Man Nabbed In Transgender Activist's Murder

ANAHEIM (CBSLA.com) — Police have apprehended a 38-year-old man suspected of killing a transgender activist, whose body was found behind a Dairy Queen in Anaheim this summer.

Officers caught up with Randy Lee Parkerson of Anaheim Tuesday morning while he was driving on the 200 block of East Katella Avenue, Anaheim police Lt. Bob Dunn said.

He's being held on $1 million bail.

The arrest comes nearly four months after Zoraida Reyes, 29, was found dead in the parking lot of the Dairy Queen at 201 North State College Boulevard.

The Santa Ana resident was an active member of several Orange county transgender and immigrant rights advocacy groups.

Detectives have not ruled the death a hate crime.

Investigators haven't said to what degree Parkerson knew the victim. Dunn said evidence doesn't indicate Reyes was specifically targeted.
