OC Deputy Faces Domestic Violence, Gun Charges
SANTA ANA (CBS) — An Orange County sheriff's deputy faces domestic violence and gun charges after being arrested twice this week.
Deputy Travis Christopher Unholz, a 13-year veteran, was held without bail on suspicion of domestic violence and possession of a gun, sheriff's spokesman Jim McDonald said. He was placed on leave, but McDonald would not say whether it was paid or unpaid.
Unholz was first arrested Sunday evening at his home in Trabuco Canyon, after deputies were called to investigate a disturbance. A victim was taken to a hospital for a cut.
Unholz posted bail and was released Monday, but was arrested again Wednesday evening in Mission Viejo on suspicion of domestic violence and possession of a gun.
Unholz's most recent assignment was at the Men's Central Jail in Santa Ana, McDonald said.
Unholz has not yet been charged, but prosecutors are reviewing the case, Orange County District Attorney's spokeswoman Farrah Emami said.
