OC Concerts To Look Forward To In 2014
Orange County is loaded with great music venues and 2014 will bring some of the biggest bands in the world to Orange County. The OC was host to some legendary shows this past year. And, with the OC becoming an appealing place to tour for a lot of bands, you can expect some big shows to come. With an amazing year of music in Orange County behind us, we look forward to 2014's top events.
Snoop Dogg aka Snoop Lion
The Observatory
3503 S. Harbor Blvd.
Santa Ana, CA 92704
(714) 957-0600

Whether it is as Snoop Dogg or Snoop Lion, Long Beach legend Calvin Broadus Jr. always throws down quite the show. He has over two decades worth of material to pull from and playing a semi-hometown show should make for an interesting crowd. Expect any or all of "Doggystyle," the seminal album from señor Dogg, but his newer tunes are always crowd pleasers. His newest incarnation, Snoop Lion, has more of a reggae flair, so it won't just be "Gin and Juice" all night long.
Styx
Grove Of Anaheim
2200 E. Katella Ave.
Anaheim, CA 92806
(714) 712-2700

Renegades come, one and all, and enjoy Styx at the Grove of Anaheim. Tommy Shaw and crew will be playing tunes from any of the 30 million albums they have sold over the past half-decade including "Come Sail Away" and more. The Canadian rockers have been touring for so long that their show is a precise execution in how to perform live, so the outdoor venue of the Grove is perfect for their large sound and professional execution. This is one of the available dinner shows, as well, so order early and sit down with a nice meal to enjoy the show in style.
Queensryche
House of Blues Anaheim
1530 S. Disneyland Drive
Anaheim, CA 92802
(714) 778-2583
Date: Jan. 25, 2014 at 8pm

2014 might be the best time to enjoy the best of 1984 and Queensryche is going to help you get there. The House of Blues in Anaheim is hosting a sweet gig with the rockers to bring back some fond feelings of nostalgia while banging your head for over an hour. Any show involving Queensryche needs a tiny bit of research, as the band has splintered over the years around the different lead singers. This show will feature John Corabi who is not the original vocalist (Geoff Tate). Expect a less insane show, as Tate tends to fight with the crowd a bit and cause his own controversy, something that will keep you from enjoying "Operation: Mindcrime" to the fullest.

British gents Yuck are going to grace our shores in the most intimate way possible: with a headlining show at the minuscule Detroit Bar. Even though the group only has two albums to its name, it has been a touring monster for a few years and has played some of the more major music festivals around the world. Although Yuck hails from across the pond, the band released its music on Fat Possum and has a sort of lo-fi growl sound more akin to American favorites like Dinosaur Jr and Sonic Youth. This group will mostly be playing from its new album "Glow and Behold," but that's to be expected when a band is on the road in support of their latest output.
