Northern Colorado Outlasts UC Riverside, 63-60
GREELEY, Colo. (AP) — Tate Unruh had 24 points with 10 rebounds to lead Northern Colorado past UC Riverside 63-60 Monday night.
The Bears (6-2) led by as much as nine in the first half, but found themselves down by four in the second half after UC Riverside's Chris Patton hit two layups with 3:12 left.
Derrick Barden countered with a dunk and a layup to knot the score at 60. Corey Spence split a pair of free throws to give Northern Colorado the lead and Unruh added two more following a Steven Jones turnover with two seconds left. Nick Gruninger couldn't connect on a 3-pointer as time expired.
Unruh was 7 of 11 and hit six from beyond the arc. Barden finished with 14 points for the Bears.
UC Riverside (3-6), led by Patton with 17 points and eight boards, missed five field goals and committed two turnovers in the final three minutes.
